Pet Wellness Month is a great time to remind ourselves of all the love and support our pets give us and to review some important tips to keep our dogs and cats happy and healthy.

Control Weight: Keeping your pets at the appropriate body weight for your pet is essential for their long-term health. And remember: being underweight is just as unhealthy as being overweight.

Dental Care: Maintaining your pets’ dental health is critical for their overall well-being. If dental health is ignored, it could lead to periodontal disease, which could cause serious complications for your pets’ organs.

Exercise: It’s important that your pets are getting enough exercise for their breed and age. Along with keeping them physically healthy, exercise keeps pets mentally stimulated.

Age-Appropriate Food: As your pets age, their dietary needs will change. When your pets move into a new life stage, ensure their food and nutritional needs are assessed and changes are made if required.

Regular Veterinary Examinations: During annual check-ups, a veterinarian will assess your pets’ overall health — from their weight and gait to their circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems. A preventative approach to medicine is better for pet wellness and long-term health.
